For high school band students, 8 soloists and one duet participated in the district event with the duet and 5 soloists advancing to the state level where they split between superior and excellent ratings.

Three soloists, 2 duets, and a trio of trios from the junior high band classes participated in their district event and compiled 7 superior ratings and 1 excellent rating between them.

On the orchestra side, a 14 piece Chamber group played Mozart's 25th symphony and received a superior rating at state along with a violin/viola quartet. State level performances also included a cello solo and viola solo.

BPS/UT logosNEW PRE-ENGINEERING PARTNERSHIP WITH UT

DUAL ENROLLMENT AVAILABLE IN FALL 2024
Bedford Public Schools and the University of Toledo have entered into a unique partnership, the first between a Michigan public school and an Ohio public university, to allow Bedford High School students to dual enroll at UT. Beginning in the Fall of 2024, eligible students will be able to choose from 3 courses designed to give students a head start in UT’s engineering program.

These first 3 classes available through this partnership include: Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, and Trigonometry. Each of these University of Toledo classes are worth 3 college credits. Additional courses will become available as students complete the initial offerings.

All classes will be held on the UT campus, taught by UT staff, and students will be responsible for transportation and parking.

This is another incredible opportunity Bedford students can benefit from while still in high school. Earning college credit now means smaller college expenses, a smaller course load allows students to concentrate more fully on other courses or the opportunity to graduate college ahead of schedule.

With so many of Bedford’s graduates already heading to the University of Toledo for their post secondary education, this is truly a win-win scenario for not only Bedford Public Schools and the University of Toledo, but mostly for the students in our community.

BOYS TENNIS GOES TO STATE FOR 2ND YEAR IN A ROW!

Bedford Boys Varsity Tennis traveled to Grand Rapids for possibly the rainiest state tennis tournament ever held with lots of delays, schedule and site changes to deal with as well as playing very late into the night. The team played extremely well overall for a very respectable showing.

Jaxon N., at #1 singles, played extremely well and won his first match 6-0,6-0 before falling to the number 4 seed 6-4,6-1. Jaxon was recently named the Monroe County Player of the Year.

Carter R., at #4 singles, played some of his best tennis of the year. He won his first match 6-3,6-4. Despite contending with huge delays and a last minute site change, he also won his second match by 6-3,6-4 before ending his first day at 11:15 pm. On the second day Carter lost 6-2,6-0 to the number 2 seed who was state runner up.

Monroe County Coach of the Year, Coach Cukierski, commented that, “Bedford was represented at the state meet by a great group of boys that conducted themselves with great sportsmanship throughout their season to make the school and community very proud. Can’t wait to see what this team can accomplish in the future.”

New School Records
Jaxon and Carter both had 23 singles wins this season and now share that record.
Jaxon also tied the career singles record of 55 wins.
In doubles, Taylor B. is now the career record holder with 30 wins after two seasons with Carter and one with Donovan P. as his partner.

New signs being installedNEW SIGNAGE AROUND THE DISTRICT

You may notice some new signs being installed around our district. These new signs are meant to reinforce to district visitors that our grounds and facilities are closed to the general public when school is in session. This is not a new policy (9150 - SCHOOL VISITORS), however, we are stepping up our enforcement of these rules to help ensure the safety of students and staff. Anyone that has school related business during published school hours, is welcome to enter through each building's main entrance and check in as a visitor.

This same School Visitor Policy also addresses animals on our school grounds: “Except as set forth in District policy, canines brought on the premises by law enforcement personnel for law enforcement purposes, or in the case of "service animals" required for use by a person with a disability, no other animals may be on school premises at any time.”

The Bedford High School Faculty & Staff BELIEVES That:

  • All students will learn.
  • Success breeds success.
  • Learning is a life-long process.
  • We as a school community control the educational environment and the conditions for each student to be successful while in our care.
  • Education is the shared responsibility of our school, students, families and community.

Our Mission:

High Levels of Learning for All Students

Our Vision:

Bedford High School’s staff will provide a stimulating learning environment and prepare students to contribute to the global economy by providing a challenging curriculum that is student centered, goal oriented, and research based.
