Three BJHS Teams Earn Trip to SE MICHIGAN STATE FTC CHAMPIONSHIP

The FIRST FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) PowerPlay Robotics Season is in full swing. Bedford hosted a tournament in November and two of the 5 BJHS robotics teams qualified for Michigan State FTC Tournament (SE) this weekend. They will be joined by the Classical Engineers who qualified at the Troy tournament last weekend as part of the winning alliance. They also won the Inspire Award; adding to the BJHS teams’ list of achievements for this season so far:

BJHS Camp Out to Stamp Out HungerSTAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE

The BJHS Food Drive will continue until Dec. 9th. Feel free to stop by the junior high office during school hours to drop off your donations.

There has always been a need in our community but it seems especially challenging to collect donations this year as grocery costs have risen. If you are able to help with this effort, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Dr. Shultz and the Monroe County Prosecutor have released letters about the seriousness of the consequences for making threats. Families have been emailed the letters and they will be shared with BPS students at the secondary level on Monday, November 21st.

Get Involved! Clubs at BJHSCLUBS AT BJHS

We encourage students to get involved in extracurricular activities available at the junior high. Please make arrangements for a ride home for any after school activities.

NEW! COMMON INTEREST CLUB
C.I.C. is for anyone interested in making new friends based on common interests. Come hangout & talk with friends. Tuesdays from 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM in room #134 starting November 29th.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS CLUB
Consider joining us if you have some creative and fun ideas on how to spread some kindness around our school and community! "RAK" Club will meet every other week from 2:30-3:30 PM in Room 25 on the following Wednesdays:

Winter Boys Basketball for Grades 4-12
Registration is open for the Winter Boys Basketball Leagues for grades 4-12. Register online at https://bedford.ce.eleyo.com/ or stop in the Community Ed office, 1135 Smith Road. High school students may register as a team but must turn in payment as a team. Grades 4-8 may list one friend/family member (both must match to be honored). DEADLINE to register for this league is December 16th.

Save the Date: The Daddy Daughter Dance is February 11, 2023
Tickets will go on sale after Winter Break on Tuesday, January 3rd, for girls in grades K-8 and their dads, uncles and/or grandfathers. Last day to purchase tickets: February 3, 2023. Must pre-register, no tickets will be available after February 3rd.

The Winter classes are coming soon - look for the brochure in December. It will be filled with exciting programs and classes for any age; everything from art to yoga. BJHS SPORTS NEWS

BOYS BASKETBALL
Bedford 7th grade basketball improved to 10-1 defeating Monroe 34-12. Kyle S. and Gabe R. led the team in assists and Drew B. had his best game of the year scoring 10 points.

Bedford 8th grade downed the Trojans of Monroe 27-16. Corbin M. and Evan G. led the scoring. Hussein S. and Jackson H. also played well.

SWIM & DIVE
The Swim and Dive team lost their first meet to a very strong Saline Middle School.

8th Grader Ryan S. had super fast 50 free, 50 fly and 100 Free split that qualifies him right off the bat for Middle School State Meet in January. Great Job Ryan!

Diver Jack A. dove a best for a score of 150 points as he crushed his double somersault and his 1.5 inward to finish 2nd our of 7 divers.

Jackson R. had a huge drop in time in his 200 free by over 14 seconds.

Samantha S. did personal bests in both the 200 and 100 Freestyles. She finished 2nd in the 100 free.

Parker W. finished 3rd in a super close 100 Breastroke race.

Next meet is Wednesday against Pinckney! Great job Team!

Junior High Wrestling practices have started and we would like anyone interested to come to practice from 4-6 Monday through Friday.

SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR
Remember sports physicals must be dated April 15, 2022 or after this date to be in compliance for the next school year! Anything dated before the April 15, 2022 date will no longer be valid once the school year ends. A current physical is also required to participate in summer conditionings.

Times will fluctuate at the start of a new school year until everyone settles down into a routine.

You will enter the north drive on the side of the junior high closest to the Bedford Public Library. You will travel behind the junior high and then continue towards the stadium, you will follow the new drive that circles around the north side of the high school building, runs parallel with the bus depot parking lot, turns to run along the south side of the junior high before passing behind the junior high and finally exiting out onto Jackman Road on the same drive that you entered on. You can drop off students at both the high school and the junior high using the Mega-Loop. A gate located in front of the stadium will be closed during the arrival and dismissal times that will prevent thru traffic from the junior high and high school. Please follow the direction of school personnel.

You can choose how you want to receive our messages: email, phone calls, and now text messages. The default setting is email and phone options. If you wish to add text messages, you will have to add that as an option in your Parent Portal Settings. You can edit your phone numbers within the portal, but if you need to change your email, you will need to contact the school office.
