Dear BPS Families,
The Bedford Public Schools Board of Education unanimously approved the recommended 2nd Semester Learning Plan at yesterday’s Special Board Meeting. The approved plan represents the district’s continued commitment of maintaining a choice for learning options at all grade levels. While there is no potential plan that could meet all of our community’s educational preferences, we do believe that our available options will lead to a successful second half of the school year with additional support for all students.
Building level teams will begin the scheduling process immediately to ensure that the district is prepared for the 2nd semester transition. If the district did not receive a commitment form for your child(ren), we will use the following as our default:
1) K-5 students will be placed in the same learning option that they are currently in.
2) 6-12 students will be placed in the in-person learning option.
Building principals and district department directors will be sharing important information regarding program specifics in the near future. There is a strong likelihood that details of our plan will continue to evolve to ensure that we are maintaining the safest learning environment possible across the district. District leadership will continue to monitor COVID-19 related case data daily to assist in making any necessary changes. As I have stated repeatedly throughout this school year, even the best constructed plans can only be successful if we ALL do our necessary parts to remain safe. In-person learning is an extremely important option for our students and staff members and in order for this to remain a viable option, we must maintain the positive momentum that we currently see in case data across the district and township.
As always, I hope that this update finds you and your family safe and well and that everyone has a restful weekend.
Respectfully,
Carl Shultz, Ph.D
Superintendent, Bedford Public Schools
