WORLD HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY B – COURSE 1181

Grade: 11 (Required)         Prerequisite: None

World History and Geography is a course where students will learn about the human experience over time and space.  They will encounter powerful and conflicting ideas while studying about people and events in different places and time periods.  Students will investigate our diverse and common traditions, and work to understand the complex interactions among various environmental, human and social forces that have influenced and continue to influence the United States.  The time line ranges from the beginning of time to current global issues.  Systems of human organization, world religions, and the rise and fall of major empires are some of the topics discussed.

WORLD STUDIES – COURSE 1194

Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12                          Prerequisite: None

This course takes the economical, historical, and political knowledge that students gained as underclassmen and applies that knowledge to regions outside of the United States. Physical landform regions, culture, religion, current events, modern history, natural resources, environmental issues, political issues, underdeveloped countries, interdependency, revolution, and technology are some of the major concepts that will be covered.

This course will give students the opportunity to learn about other cultures including a deeper look at our own culture. Ideally students will develop sensitivity to and an appreciation for the multicultural diversity of the world.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP – COURSE 1214

Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12       
Prerequisite:Interested students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and must not have violated the attendance policy as verified by counselor’s signature .

Students demonstrate leadership principles in practical situations. Projects employing management skills, organizational abilities, targeted communications, and peer motivation occur. Some activities require after-class work sessions . Enrollment in this class is very limited.
