WEB PAGE DESIGN 1 – COURSE 4834

Grades: 10, 11, 12        Prerequisite: One term computer experience or instructor’s signature.

This is an advanced computer course designed to give students the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and maintain web pages that are: 1) navigationally efficient; 2) effectively convey information; and 3) appealing to the user. Students will receive a solid foundation in tools, technologies, and concepts needed to begin designing web pages that not only look great, but work. Students will learn to design web pages that could meet a variety of needs for commercial and academic purposes. The course will provide a strong foundation in HTML programming and progress to cover automated web-authoring software use. Membership in Business Professionals of America (BPA) is encouraged.

WEB PAGE DESIGN 2 – COURSE 4836

Grades: 10, 11, 12           Prerequisite: Web Page Design 1

An advanced Web Page Design class designed to give students knowledge and skills necessary to sell products and services using web sites and the Internet. Web Page Design skills combined with effective marketing techniques would be used to create effective, affective, and efficient commercial B-to-B web sites. Students explore surveying the competitive environment online, ethics of doing business online and protecting consumer privacy online. Membership in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) is encouraged.

ONLINE EXPERIENCE A – COURSE 4821

Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12         Prerequisite – None

This course is designed to give students practical experience using microcomputer and the internet as occupational tools in order to complete a variety of office and business-related tasks and simulations. Students will learn beginning to moderate skills in file management, email, internet use, word processor, electronic spreadsheet, and presentation programs as applied in the workplace and their personal lives. Also, components of the WorkKeys: Applied Math, Reading for Information and Business Writing will be emphasized. A minimum of 12 hours will be spent fulfilling part of Online Learning Experience requirements in addition to Michigan Educational Technology Standards and Expectation requirements.

ONLINE EXPERIENCE B – COURSE 4822

Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12          Prerequisite – None

This course is the 2 nd level of the Online Experience. It is designed to give students more practical experience using microcomputer and the internet as occupational tools in order to complete a variety of office and business related tasks and simulations. Students will learn more advanced skills in word processing, electronic spreadsheet, and presentation programs in addition to beginning to moderate skill level in database software and integration. Continued emphasis in WorkKeys: Applied Math, Reading for Information, and Business Writing, will be utilized. Microsoft Office Certification is also an option for students. Each Certification exam fee is $48(subject to change). After completing both Online Experience A and B, students will have fulfilled all of the Online Learning Experience requirements in addition to Michigan Educational Technology Standards and Expectation requirements.

ANIMATION – COURSE 4850

Prerequisite: One computer experience class such as Online Experience A and Online Experience B.

This is an advanced computer course designed to give students the knowledge and skill in creating computer animations. Students will design and publish a variety of animations such as public service announcements, commercials, web ads, and movie shorts using Adobe Photoshop and Flash programs,
