BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY A – COURSE 4611
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY B – COURSE 4612

Grades: 10, 11, 12            Prerequisites: Online Experience A and Online Experience B

Students will be introduced to intermediate Windows applications using the Microsoft Office Professional Suite. Career opportunities are explored through occupation-specific skills preparations. Students are given the opportunity to explore various careers within different business settings by successfully completing a number of business simulations and models. Students are encouraged to “think outside the box” and to thoroughly participate in a team working environment. Critical thinking skills are also strengthened with the assignments and projects given. Students are expected to use good time management skills as well as be able to work independently.

Membership in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) is encouraged as part of this class. Co-Op work related experience at the job site is available and encouraged for qualified students in Grade 12. This course is articulated with Tech Prep at Monroe County Community College, Baker College, Davis College and Henry Ford Community College.

ADVANCED BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY B – COURSE 4622

Grades 11, 12                Prerequisite: Business Management Technology A and B

Students will receive advanced Windows applications using Microsoft Office Professional Suite. After successfully completing Advanced Business Management Technology A/B, students should have acquired the skills necessary to pass any of the following industry recognized certifications: IC 3, MOS, and A+.

IC^3 – certification recognized globally demonstrates computer and internet literacy.

MOS – Microsoft Office Specialist recognized globally demonstrates skills in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

A+ - certification recognized globally is the industry standard for validating vendor neutral skills expected of an entry-level computer technician.

Membership in Business Professionals of America (BPA) is encouraged as part of this class. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS – COURSE 4714

Grades: 11, 12

Prerequisite: 1 term computer experience recommended. Foreign language background helpful, but not necessary.

International trade is rapidly growing and exciting! This course is designed for the student who has a strong interest in business/international business. Time will be spent exploring the culture, history, key business phrases and differences/similarities of business practices of several countries. Students will learn international business operations. Membership in the Business Professionals of America Club is encouraged.

Areas emphasized include the following: Basic Economics, Government Roles, US and World Economy, Importing/Exporting and Trade Relations, International Career Planning, Current Affairs, International Marketing, and Culture Influences on Global Business.
