COMPUTER SCIENCE 1 – COURSE 4914

Grades: 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Completion of Geometry and at least enrolled in a third or fourth year math class (Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, or Calculus). Recommend 1 term of Online Experience A, Online Experience B or equivalent.

This course is designed to introduce computer programming through a variety of programming languages. The course has an overview of microcomputer systems and different programming languages, using and developing algorithms, the use of variables in programming, functions use in programming, Boolean algebra and the “if” selection structure, and the repetition structure.

Upon successful completion of this class a student may qualify for college credit.

COMPUTER SCIENCE 2 – COURSE 4924

Grades: 10, 11, 12              Prerequisite:   Computer Science 1

This course continues with an expansion on topics from Computer Science 1. The course covers sequential access files, arrays, two-dimensional arrays, sorting, searching, control breaks, classes and Introduction to game Programming,

Upon successful completion of this class a student may qualify for college credit.

COMPUTERIZED GRAPHIC AND LAYOUT DESIGN 1 – COURSE 4844

Grades: 10, 11, 12          Prerequisite: One term computer experience or instructor’s signature.

This is an advanced computer course designed to give students the knowledge and skills in the field of Desktop Publishing. Students will use several design application software and learn the desktop publishing basics of artwork, graphic design, and editorial decisions.

COMPUTERIZED GRAPHIC AND LAYOUT DESIGN 2 – COURSE 4846

Grades: 10, 11, 12             Prerequisite: Computerized Graphic and Layout Design 1

A second-level course designed to give students advanced skills and knowledge in the field of computerized graphic design and desktop publishing. Students will create a variety of business documents and original graphic art designs using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign software. Membership in Business Professionals of America (BPA) is encouraged.
