Bedford Orchestras Commissions Work To Celebrate Its 20th Anniversary!

The Bedford Orchestra program has commissioned a work by award winning composer Bob Phillips to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its start in the Bedford Public School system.  The piece, Double Stomp Romp, will be premiered at the annual Day for Strings on April 20 with the composer in attendance.  Find out more about Bob Phillips at the following link:  http://alfred.com/img/authors/phillips.html  This is the second time the Bedford Orchestras have premiered a piece.  The first was the Symphony of String Instruments by James Leatherbarrow and the Euclid String Quartet during the 2006 Day for Strings.  The Double Stomp Romp will feature all of our district orchestras performing together in a grand finale.  The piece incorporates both the junior and senior high mascots and how each kicks with both feet at the same time.  It should be a wonderful end to a great annual celebration event of our district string program!
