Monroe Road Elementary (MRE)
opened in August 2001 as the fifth elementary building for Bedford
Public Schools. Our school serves 580 students in grades K-6 in
Lambertville, Michigan. During that first year, our students chose
the ‘mustang’ as our mascot. They also voted to be
a ‘multi-colored’ school so our school colors are many – red,
blue, green, orange and yellow with brown added to give the mustang
its natural color. We are proud of
the achievement of our students, the team work of our staff, and
the active involvement of our parents. We invite you to explore
our website to see why our theme for this year is “Proud
to be…MRE!”
Our
Beliefs…
Together everyone achieves more.
Education should extend beyond the classroom walls including field
studies, access to community resources, and an emphasis on the great
outdoors.
All children can learn and should grow academically and socially
each year.
Making technology
an integrated part of our learning environment will help children
to live and learn in an ever-changing world.
When children see
their school as a community, and are provided opportunities for community
service at school and in their neighborhoods, it builds
citizenship.
Our curriculum is mapped, varied, integrated, and based on high standards.
Responsibility for oneself and others and their individual differences
creates an environment where everyone can thrive.
Keeping our school improvement goals focused on enhanced learning
for all students will provide direction for our program.

Our
parental involvement…
Much of our early success at MRE has been due to the many parents
who have freely given their support, time, and energy to enhance
our students’ learning opportunities. Our PTA has provided
programs, finances, and time to enrich our staff and students’ time
at MRE. Our many parent volunteers have cut, pasted, copied, read,
colored, dug, planted, cooked, painted, baked, sold,
and …(the
list goes on and on and on)
