Monroe Road Elementary Annual Education Report
August 12, 2011
Dear Parents and Community Members:
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2010-2011 educational progress for Monroe Road Elementary. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact the school for assistance.
The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting this web page or you may review a copy from the principal’s office at your child’s school.
For 2010-2011, Monroe Road Elementary made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts and mathematics. While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort.
State law requires that we also report the following additional information.
PROCESS FOR ASSIGNING PUPILS TO THE SCHOOL
There are four elementary schools within the Bedford Public School district. Students are assigned according to geographic location. Consideration is given to transfer requests within the district based on school preference. Students seeking Schools-of-Choice within Monroe County may enroll according to the guidelines. Young Fives and specific special education programs are housed in various elementary buildings throughout the district.
THE STATUS OF THE 3-5 YEAR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
The 2010-2011 school year was the initial year of our newly created district-wide school improvement plan. Bedford Public Schools accomplished the major feat of receiving district wide accreditation in all seven global standards. As a result of our Quality Assurance Review during the 2009-2010 school year we made adjustments to our plan. One area of focus will be the alignment of our curriculum to district common assessments.
District Goals:
- All students will improve their ability to infer in reading.
- All students will improve their ability to solve problems in the number system and operations strand.
- All students will be able to effectively communicate their ideas in writing through a variety of genre.
- All students will demonstrate responsible behavior to improve the learning environment.
- All students will improve their ability in the area of physical science.
