Corporal works of mercy involve Catholics donating to others in need of help.   We should all donate in time of need.   If you were to donate money your money would go to the poor, sick and those people that had had damage done by a natural disaster.

Since the tsunami, people are going over to Asia to help.   So many are homeless and now the clean up will begin.   While some are helping the tsunami victims, people are visiting those in hospitals and nursing homes.

Donation from all over the world is  being sent to Asia.   We are supplying tents for shelters because there are no more homes.   All of there fresh water was destroyed by the tsunami so we are giving bottled water.   Food will be needed because there are no more crops.

Catholic Charities are sending over millions of dollars to help rebuild the lives of the tsunami victims.   They are in desperate need of medical supplies for all the injured.   So many children lost their parents and so many parents lost their children.

Habitat for humanity is a program that builds homes for people who can’t afford to buy one.   This year they have a lot of homes to build, they are build homes for people affected by the tsunami and they will still be building homes back in America.   They hope by the end of January to have started building homes for the tsunami victims.

The people in nursing homes and hospitals don’t have the chance to get out very much.   Some times their family will not visit them or they have no family.   So its is nice for them when someone will visit them.   They may not seem so nice sometimes but that is just because they are lonely.

If you were to go to a nursing home they would appreciate it if they received a card or letter.   When I volunteered at a nursing home I read them poems.   When I was in my Girl Scout troop we did a dance for them and they really enjoyed the entertainment.

If you maybe have an elderly neighbor one day go over and ask them if they would like to get lunch or if they need any help.   Also watch out for your family members you never know when they may need some on to talk to.  If there is a new kid ask them to sit by you at lunch.   You should always be friendly to others.

It makes me feel good when I do something nice for others.   If I visited someone I know that I made their day special because they were probably lonely.   Even if you just write a letter to some on or draw them a picture it will most likely be special to them.

I hope that more people will do volunteer work because they are doing something for others.   I would also like to see more people maybe donate money to the poor, sick, or homeless.    Maybe if you just have some extra change it would be nice to donate it.    And I think that we should all try harder to get along.   We should all pray for the sick and poor and for right now the tsunami victims.   That is what I hope for the future.
