Prerequisite: None

Students taking the course will acquire the basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in the target language. Insruction will be via dramactic and tape presentations, written exercises, oral drills, basic reading, audio visual aids and games. The students will gain an insight into culture of French speaking countries through various activities including films, music, and experiences with foreign cuisine.

Students participation in the language classroom activities is essential. It is strongly recommended that the students have a grade of a C or better in English courses before attempting the study of a foreign language. Back to top.

Prerequisite: French 1 - It is strngly recommended thatstudents planning to take French 2 acheieve a grade of C or better in French 1.

Students taking French 2 will further develop and improve the language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writting through intensified grammer study and wider experiences in writting and verbalization. Readings will be selected from more advanced material. Students will particiapte in activities designed to promote cultural awareness. Prerequisite: Completion of the previous language course with a grade of B or better or teacher recommendation.

Students in the regular third-year language classes will expand and develop their target language vocabulary through short readings, story-telling, and oral comprehention activities. Refinement of previously learned grammer will continue with wider practice, and new grammer concepts will be taught with emphasis and real-life situational use. Cultural experiences will enhance understanding of foreign languages is recommended for students planning to attend selective colleges or universities. Back to top.

Prerequisite: At least 3 years of previous language study with an A in French 3.

Students who elect this course will be working at the college level. The grammer, writing, literature, comprehension, and speaking components will be those that prepare the students for the AP language exam in the spring of the senior year. The teacher will conduct the class entirely in the target language, and students will be expected to communicate entirely in that target language. Back to top.
