Welcome to our District
Bedford Public Schools is a high achieving school district located in Monroe County, Michigan. Because of the dedicated efforts of our highly-qualified staff, the hard work of our students, and the support of our parents and community, Bedford Publics Schools’ performance continues to exceed the state averages in MEAP, MME and ACT scores and routinely leads our region in many areas.

We are very proud of our students' academic achievement and our community.

Reports of racism at the freshman football game at Bedford against Ann Arbor Skyline on Thursday, October 9th were aired in television reporting.

The report alleged that:
• Racial slurs were made against a Skyline player on the field during the game.
• Confederate flags were waved in the stands to intimidate.
• Not stated in the television reporting, but included in communications from Skyline authorities: several Bedford players refused to shake hands with the some of the Skyline players.

Bedford Public Schools immediately launched an investigation which included reviewing game film footage, and interviews with referee officials, administrators and spectators at the game, and student-athletes.
• To date, none of the individuals interviewed had heard any racial slurs on the part of any Bedford student during the game. This portion of the investigation is ongoing.
• Further, no one had observed a Confederate flag during the game; the game tape did not show a Confederate flag flying in the stands. The picture shown is a screenshot of that game and is representative of the entire game.
• The Skyline Athletic Director, stated that the earlier accusation about Bedford players refusing to shake hands was proven false during his investigation.

While Bedford Public Schools found no evidence of racism thus far in the course of this investigation, the district is using these allegations to remind all players and students, that racism is not appropriate; they should not participate in any such behavior, on or off the field; and it will not be tolerated.

--Vote Nov. 4th--

For generations, Bedford Public Schools has provided a place for students to excel. We want to continue to do that for our students today by providing safe and secure facilities for learning where they can reach their full potential.

Bedford Public Schools is placing a renewal of their Sinking Fund on the November 4th ballot. The renewal is for 0.5 mills and will run for 5 years. The Sinking Fund renewal will generate approximately $484,000 per year. Since this is a pay-as-you-go funding source, NO interest costs will be incurred.

Friday Night Football and Stadium Traffic Restrictions

stdium traffic restriction

Traffic in front of the football stadium on the connecting road between the High School and Junior High School parking lots will be restricted between 5:30 and a half hour post game.

This area will be reserved for pedestrian traffic only to ensure the safety of all of the students, athletes, and visitors to the game.

In addition to that connecting road closure to vehicular traffic, a pedestrian walkway will also be reserved along the west side along the back of the high school to provide safe passage of the students, athletes, and band members as they walk back to their respective areas in the high school. Traffic will be permitted to move through these areas of the high school parking lot, but please be aware that there will be less room to move around.

These changes are to enhance the safety of all walking around the stadium during these busy game times. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
